Photo Festival Union is a new association for
european festivals of photography.
The main motivation in establishing the Union is the exchange of
information
between associated events. The association would like to be a point
for wide
cooperation within the area of exhibitions, lectures, publications,
workshops,
slide-shows and portfolio reviews program. We want the common Internet
website
(www.festivalunion.com) to become a comprehensive and updated base
presenting
all of the festivals' achievements. Every year the PFU members
will organize an
exhibition and publish a catalogue that presents all the associated
festivals.
The organization consists of about thirty festivals from all over
the
continent. The idea comes from the Foundation of Visual Education
in Poland.
THIS YEAR
The first meeting of the PFU members will take place in Lodz, Poland,
29.09-01.10.2005. We will meet to establish our statue, detailed
goals and
plans. The first PFU's exhibition and catalogue will be called
CREATORS OF
EUROPEAN PHOTOGRAPHY. This year's main concept is that each festival
presents
one photographer that for some reason is important or representative
for the
national photography. We will have the opportunity to see works
of photograpers
like Sonya Stankova (Bulgaria), Trine Sondergaard (Danemark), Marja
Pirila
(Finland), Gwenael Saliou (France), Vassilis Karkatselis (Greece),
Aristeidis
Kontogeorgis (Greece), Adrienne van Eekelen and Michael Botman
(The
Netherlands), Eddy van Wessel (The Netherlands), Vytautas Stanionis
Jr and
Vytautas Stanionis Sr (Lithuania), Razvan Ion (Romania), Pavel
Pecha
(Slovakia), Imre Benko (Hungary), Olivo Barbieri (Italy), Andre
Cepeda
(Portugal), Konrad Pustola (Poland), Bogdan Konopko (Poland), Lisa
Selin and
Hasse Persson (Sweden)
