55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED
A
compact, lightweight and affordable 3.6x high-power
telephoto zoom DX LENS - ideal for use with Nikon digital SLRs.
TOKYO - Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce the introduction
of the AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED. This ultra compact,
lightweight telephoto zoom lens has a 3.6x 55-200mm focal range
and offers a remarkable cost-to-performance ratio. Its optics
are optimized for use with Nikon digital SLRs, and it is ideally
suited to the new Nikon D50.
The compact zoom lens offers powerful zoom performance of 55-200mm
(providing a picture angle equivalent to an 82.5-300mm lens in
35mm format) and is suitable for everything from candid portraits
to sports, nature and wildlife photography. The newly developed
compact SWM (Silent Wave Motor) has given rise to an ultra compact,
lightweight design with excellent handling characteristics. Including
the new compact SWM, the AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G
ED measures a compact O68 x 79mm (2.7 x 3.1 in.) and weighs approximately
255g (9 oz.).
For optics, two ED glass elements achieve high resolution and
contrast while minimizing chromatic aberration and other forms
of distortion. The new compact SWM built into the lens offers
the smooth and quiet autofocus performance that users have come
to expect from our existing SWM.
By using this lens and the new AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G
ED lens, photographers have a focal length range from wide-angle
18mm to telephoto 200mm (providing a picture angle equivalent
to a 27-300mm lens in 35mm format), covering an extremely wide
variety of subjects and shooting situations. The range of these
ultra compact, lightweight lenses, combined with its high-quality
performance, will expand the photographic horizons of Nikon Digital
SLR owners. The AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED lens
will be simultaneously released with the AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor
55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED lens.
The AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED is available in
black and silver, to match the color variations of the Nikon
D50.

Nikon Corporation will launch the AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm
