Marcel van Balken EFIAP/b-ELDAF

I spent weekends and evenings in the darkroom where I started
loving photography. Through the use of sophisticated darkroom
(and later digital) techniques I am specialized in surrealistic
imaging and able to produce all kinds of special effects
namely in black and white. In 2000 I started working with
digital imaging. With advanced software like Photoshop I’m
able to combine several negatives or slides to new exiting
images.
As a photographer I’m interested in specific themes.
I believe in working thematically with an absolute preference
for surrealistic and creative photography. I give myself
a kind of theme or assignment and will not stop making photographs
unless I think I got everything out of this assignment. Some
of my assignments may take half a year while others take
4 years or even longer!
Alongside the awards and exhibitions there have been more
than 100 publications of my work in numerous publications
(i.e. Focus, FOTO, Foto Creativ/FotoColor, Kodak Image 2000,
Photography Yearbook 1996 + 1999). My work can also be seen

the magazine FotoCreative (today it's called Color Foto)
I was invited to maintain the honour "ELDAF" - "Ehrenloge
Deutscher Amateurfotografen" after more than 30 publications
in 1997.
